The brief
An Instagram AR filter built for SpaceX's Inspiration4 — the first all-civilian crewed orbital flight — in partnership with KNOWN (formerly Known.is) and the Netflix documentary team. The mission launched on September 15, 2021 with a four-person crew representing the pillars of support for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
The brief was to give the public a way to actively participate in the launch moment rather than watch it from the outside. AIM designed and shipped the filter as the social-facing layer of the campaign, sitting alongside the broadcast feed and the Netflix series.
The work sits inside AIM's wider applied-AR practice: real-time, lightweight, distribution-first, and built to scale to millions of activations without requiring an app install.
