Before the cut.

The early visual intentions behind this world. The finished film may take the story somewhere different.

Goya chiaroscuro lit by television static: peeling walls, family portraits, and a ceiling that breathes. The creature sews with terrible tenderness, stitch by stitch, closing the mouths of everyone who ever lied to the old woman, and the granddaughter realizes her own lips are already threaded. Almost silent film; the horror is in the rhythm of the needle.

The first premise

In an old Madrid apartment, a granddaughter cares for her sleepless grandmother. Every night at three exactly, something grey and hairless peels off the ceiling with a spool of black thread and sews her lips shut a little more.
